It was very rewarding to be able to see how useful my skills and experience could be. While the project was very challenging, I really felt my particular background was well suited to the work and that I could make a genuinely valuable contribution to the organisation.

Rose Rutherford, NAILSMA

Going on an internship through Aurora to an organisation located in Darwin really opened my eyes to the immense amount of knowledge and experience that Traditional Owners hold and the specific realities of life in the top end of Australia.

Lara Paiijmans, NAILSMA

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work at this organisation and have learnt a lot about the realities of the Indigenous sector, Indigenous land management, and the pressures faced by NGOs.

Jethro Sallmann, NAILSMA

I found work at NAILSMA both intellectually and culturally informative – it really enabled me to broaden my interests in topics such as environmental management, Indigenous and multicultural affairs.

Tabitha Yeoh, NAILSMA

Choosing to do an Aurora Internship has got to be one of the best decisions I made during my entire degree

Sarah de Wit, NAILSMA

My internship was the highlight of my university experience, a real game changer when considering future career directions and establishing professional networks.

Adrianna Poutsma , NAILSMA

The most rewarding aspects of my placements were talking to the staff members and gaining insight into working in the Indigenous sector via the wealth of knowledge and experience held by the staff members, grounding the my theoretical understanding of Indigenous Australia in real, on-ground work, and being inspired by some of the amazing projects and work that is being done in the Indigenous sector, especially, the environment related work, as that is where my interest primarily lies.
