I spent my winter university break in Darwin, interning at Danila Dilba Health Service for four weeks as part of the Aurora Internship Program. DDHS provides primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, but also has a policy and strategy team.
This was the first time I commenced an internship so naturally I was nervous about the experience, however the Aurora team were helpful throughout my application process, kept regular communication and with excellent host matching skills and follow up support I was on placement with Danila Dilba
During my final semester of studies at university I discovered the Aurora Internship program, the perfect exposure to the workforce with an Indigenous organisation and the opportunity to live in a different part of Australia.
My internship experience via the Aurora Internship Program at DDHS was unlike any other work placement or internship I’ve completed before.
A six-week Aurora internship shared between two agencies has provided an invaluable insight into the way in which we reform the law and the importance of the rule of law.
