After graduating from the University of Melbourne with Honours in Australian Indigenous Studies I took some time off and realised two things.
When the call for applications for summer placements with the Aurora Internship Program once again came up at the end of last year, I jumped at the opportunity.
The Australian Indigenous Governance Institute (AIGI) is a non-profit organisation that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians achieve self-determined economic, social and cultural aspirations through strong governance.
After graduating from Arts/Law at ANU in mid-2016, I decided to take some time off to try some different things and learn some new skills. I was fortunate enough to complete two Aurora Internships during this time via the Aurora Internship Program.
While governance seems such a theoretical concept, AIGI successfully translates governance into effective practice and assists Indigenous led organisations across Australia achieve their overall goals and create positive changes in the communities in which they operate.
