From the dank interiors of one of Australia’s oldest gaols to the verdant hills of the Hunter Region, undertaking an internship at Chalk & Behrendt, Lawyers & Consultants, led to adventures I had not expected from a legal practice based in the Sydney CBD.
My experience at Chalk & Behrendt (C&B) as an Aurora Legal Intern as part of the Aurora Internship Program has been my most rewarding experience since law school.
In January & February 2017, I was very fortunate to complete a six-week placement at Chalk & Behrendt (C&B) as part of the Aurora Internship Program. C&B is a firm dedicated to serving Aboriginal organisations by providing them with legal and consulting services.
When I received the email to say I had been selected for an Aurora Internship via the Aurora Internship Program, I thought I’d won Lotto. This would be my second round as an Aurora Intern, so I had a good idea of what a great experience lay ahead of me.

I undertook an Aurora internship with Chalk & Fitzgerald (C&F)in June/July 2016. The internship was a rewarding experience, one that I would highly encourage law students to engage in.
The experience and exposure that I received during my Aurora internship at Chalk & Fitzgerald to the legal profession and Indigenous legal issues far exceeded my expectations.
From January – March 2016, I spent 6 weeks interning at Chalk & Fitzgerald Lawyers, a specialist native title firm in Sydney.
