Through the Aurora Project, I undertook an internship with NTSCORP’s legal team from late November to late December 2018.
The Aurora Internship Program places students and graduates in law, anthropology, and social sciences in internships with organisations that have a focus on the Indigenous sector and native title. I was lucky enough to be placed with the Northern Land Council (NLC) in Darwin.
I returned to Australia in 2018 for my final year in law after spending a month interning at a firm in Malaysia that specialised in native title. I really enjoyed my experience there, and was looking for more opportunities in that field that I could get into.
I first learned about the Aurora Internship Program when I was completing a unit in Contemporary Law and Justice. I worked towards fulfilling their criteria for applications, and finally in my second year of study, I applied for the 2018 winter round .
The Aurora Project is a program that facilitates internships between tertiary students and Indigenous organisations with an emphasis on native title and social justice for Indigenous peoples.
I completed an Aurora Native Title Internship in the Strategic Development Unit of NTSCORP Limited (NTSCORP) from Monday 2 July to Friday 27 July 2018.
