My internship at NQLC
My time as an Aurora intern at the GBK Sea and Land Council on Thursday Island was, in many ways, a great honour.
I first learnt of the Aurora Internship Program through a university careers handbook for law students – which published an article about working in native title law.
Through the Aurora Project, I undertook an internship with NTSCORP’s legal team from late November to late December 2018.
Five weeks interning at Central Desert Native Title Services (Central Desert) provided a great insight into both the operation of native title law and the continuity of law and culture of Western Desert people.
The Aurora Internship Program places students and graduates in law, anthropology, and social sciences in internships with organisations that have a focus on the Indigenous sector and native title. I was lucky enough to be placed with the Northern Land Council (NLC) in Darwin.
