Four years of learning the black and white letter law from dusty textbooks could not have prepared me for the challenging yet rewarding experience of interning at the Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS).
DOING TIME AT THE ALS:
Lessons that a textbook cannot teach
Three words encapsulate my time at the Aboriginal Legal Service: rewarding, fast-paced and amazing. I applied for the Aurora Internship Program with an open mind and a keen sense of adventure in trying something new.
When the email about the Aurora Internship hit my university inbox back in July, I knew I had to at least submit an application. After living in remote outback Queensland and then embarking on my Juris Doctor, I knew I wanted to use my law degree to assist Indigenous people.
