Over winter I have had the privilege of undertaking a five week internship in Darwin via the Aurora Internship Program.
I arrived in Darwin on the 1st of November 2016 with very few expectations.
Reflecting on my time as an Aurora intern with Aboriginal Peak Organisations of the Northern Territory (APO NT), I could not be happier that I made the choice to apply to the Aurora Internship Program for the 2017 winter round.
Having just returned from a six month trip for my semester abroad where I studied at Trinity College in Dublin, Darwin was a real shock to the system. Firstly, my body struggled to handle the relentless and sweaty humidity, and I was shaken by the tropical rain every evening.
Over this past winter I completed an Aurora internship at Aboriginal Peak Organisations Northern Territory (APO NT) in Darwin. APO NT is an alliance of key Indigenous organisations in the Northern Territory.
Spending six weeks at APO NT via the Aurora Internship Program was the perfect end to my time at university and start of a next chapter. I just finished my Honours year and stepping out of the books and into the real world was a difficult but much needed and welcomed change.
