NAILSMA is a not-for-profit organisation that runs projects to support and enhance Indigenous land and sea management practices, in addition to many other cultural and economic practices.
Travelling from Melbourne (where I am currently attending university) to Darwin and interning at NAILSMA for four weeks through the Aurora Internship Program was a truly awesome experience overall.
After completing an Arts degree with an Indigenous studies and Sociology focus I set out to undertake an Aurora internship as part of the Aurora Internship Program in my home town of Melbourne.
Between January and March of 2017, I had the opportunity to intern via the Aurora Internship Program with the North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance Ltd. (NAILSMA).
From June to July 2018, I had the wonderful opportunity of interning with The North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA) in Darwin, through the Aurora Internship Program.
To finish off my undergraduate degree, I decided to undertake an internship with the Aurora Internship Program over the summer holidays.
Upon completing my first year at University, I wanted to gain practical experience through interning with an Indigenous-led organisation that focused on environmental management. I was informed of Aurora’s Internship Program and decided to apply for over the summer break.
For my Aurora Internship I spent 5 weeks working with the North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance (NAILSMA) in Darwin. Overall, I had a really positive experience both living in Darwin and interning at NAILSMA.
