I am a final year Arts/Law student. I interned at the North Queensland Land Council in Cairns. This is my story. What I enjoyed most about the legal work at NQLC was that it invariably bled into the organisation's other roles as law reform advocates, community liaisons, anthropologists and more.
I graduated from QUT at the end of 2012, and was finishing up my PLT studies during 2012 when I initially heard about the Aurora Native Title Internship Program from a friend.
The Aurora Project
During the summer before my final year of law school, I had the great fortune of undertaking an Aurora internship with the North Queensland Land Council (NQLC), a Native Title Representative Body (NTRB).
I was made aware of the Aurora Internship program through my University newsletter. As a young Aboriginal man I had felt, for some time, the desire to spend more time with Aboriginal communities and get a greater understanding of the needs and challenges different communities face.
